Chess Tournaments - Kearney Chess Fest USCF Tournament
CHESS TOURNAMENTS: KINDERGARTEN-ADULT, Scholastic/Casual sections $10.00 ($15 day of registration) or USCF Section $35 ($40 day of registration)These chess tournaments are ideal for all kids and adults. There will be various sections to suit all abilities. The USCF Section is for experienced chess enthusiasts. To participate in UCSF, you must have a current USCF Member ID, so please provide your Member ID number when signing up. Tournaments to be held at the Harmon Park Activity Center.Scholastic Rookie: K-5th Grade students with a working knowledge of how the pieces move.Scholastic Junior: 6th-8th GradeScholastic Senior: 9th-12th GradeAny student can sign up for any section that is above their current section. We will not allow students to sign up for lower sections.Casual Section: This section will be for adults who want to get accustomed to tournament chess. Oil and Chalk Pastel Drawing for Kids: Ages 8-13 - Oil and Chalk Pastel Drawing for Kids: Ages 8-13
Enjoy a fun day exploring the world of drawing with oil and chalk pastel. Leave the materials and mess to us! Kameran Dostal is a certified K-12 art educator with experience teaching all ages. Join us for a vibrant, hands-on workshop where kids dive into the worlds of oil and chalk pastels! Students will master specific techniques—from bold layering to soft blending and experiment with color theory. By the end of class, every young artist will head home with two finished masterpieces, based on their ideas and interests. Each artist will also get to take home a set of pastels. Mighty Dragons Self Defense: Ages 5-8 - Mighty Dragons Self Defense: Ages 5-8
This no-contact class will help build big motor skills through pad drills and rolling while focusing on themes such as self-discipline, respect, confidence, balance, and more. Parents are required to stay for entirety of the class. Class is taught by 2nd degree black belt certified instructor, Brooke Terzi, through Kearney Quest Center. Harmon Park Activity Center Multipurpose Room.

Building Better Babysitters - Building Better Babysitters
This one-day program allows youth to be certified in babysitting! This class is perfect for youth who are looking to pursue a summer job as a babysitter as well as those who babysit on a consistent basis. This program will cover child development, child safety, nutrition, general care, and the business of babysitting. Students will leave with their own babysitting kit to reference for years to come. Class is taught by Jordan Wilbur, Nebraska Extension Assistant. Students should bring a brown bag lunch. Harmon Park Activity Center Sycamore Room
