COVID INFO
The City of Kearney Park and Recreation Department is committed to keeping participants, spectators, and staff as healthy and safe as possible during recreational programs. Because of this, we made some adjustments to the Winter Adult Volleyball League season that we want you to be aware of prior to registering.
Advisement to Players: Do not play if you have a temperature that is above 100.4F or have symptoms of COVID-19. Do not play if you or a household member are waiting on COVID-19 test results. Do not play if someone in your household has tested positive or showing symptoms for COVID-19. Masks, covering the nose and mouth are required to be worn before, during, and after play. (Neck gaiters are not allowed to be worn). Avoid unnecessary gatherings before and after games. Do not arrive more than 10 minutes prior to the scheduled game time and do not linger in the gym after the conclusion of your game. Bring your own labeled water bottle as drinking fountains will not be available. Wash hands with soap and water prior to playing and after playing. Avoid touching your mouth, nose or eyes. Maintain 6’ of physical distance from others when possible. Use forms of sportsmanship other than shaking hands or high fives at the conclusion of a game.
Temperature Screening: Kearney Public Schools has issued a temperature screening requirement at their facilities. Participants or spectators with a 100.4F, or higher, temperature will not be allowed entry.
Spectators: In an effort to reduce gathering, participants are asked to limit the number of spectators that come. Spectators are limited to household members only. They are required to wear a mask unless a special health-related circumstance does not allow.
Return to Play Criteria: Special criteria will be utilized for such situations when a player is confirmed positive for COVID-19; a family/household member confirmed positive for COVID-19; and direct or indirect exposure to someone who tested positive for COVID-19. To reduce the spread, it is vital that players/captains communicate to the Park & Recreation Office if a team member tested positive or was exposed. In most instances, games will be canceled for at least 14 days for that team. Games may be made-up at the end of the season based on facility availability. If games can’t be made up, it will be considered a “no contest” (not a loss or a win for either team).
Schedule: Captains are encouraged to notify their teams of scheduled court and game time to discourage congregating in the entrance area (where game schedules and standings are posted). Season length has been adjusted to allow flexibility.
Refunds: Refunds will not be granted for games that can’t be rescheduled. Refunds will only be granted if the season for all leagues must be terminated.
Officials and League Supervisors: Participants and staff should always maintain their 6’ physical distance between each other.
Equipment: Teams are encouraged to bring their own warm-up volleyball (minimum warm-up will be allowed). KPR will provide one volleyball per team and game volleyball. Volleyballs will be sanitized between each match. Hand sanitizer will be available at each court.
Directed Health Measures: The City of Kearney will follow all Directed Health Measures issued by the Governor. Additionally, guidance will be provided in certain situations by the Two Rivers Public Health Department.
Thank you and we look forward to a fun winter season!
